My name is Alexander (Alex) Peck, I am an IT Network Specialist first semester student at MATC. School never came easy to me I am the kind of person who learns best by repetition and application of a subject. I happen to be returning to school after some years off, I work full time at a KinderCare as a preschool teacher, I am part time while in school.
The reasons for my re-admission to MATC are vast, but the most important is that I miss learning new and challenging ideas. Working at a learning center has shown me the importance of always challenging your mind, however since the preschool expectations are not the level of my own I needed to go back to college. I won't lie and say that pay has nothing to do with this decision, I also hope to be a self sustaining individual, this won't happen until I get a degree. I have known for a long time computers and technology are encompassing the way of human life, so IT programs were my logical choice.
As a child growing up in the 90's, technology was not only available it was advancing to become a way of life. My dad worked at an office when I was very young, and I loved playing games on his laptop I also would make photo copies of my toys on the company printer. Since then I have used computers in many ways from online gaming to homework assignments at school, and by the end of high school, social media too. When I weighed my options on degree programs all these things ran through my head. Finally I decided to learn in this IT program, and not be left in the technological dust.
Outside of schooling and work I have many interests and hobbies that keep me positive and looking forward to the greatness of life. Music is huge in my life, listening mostly, but most my family can play an instrument, I played tenor saxophone. Exercise is vital to me I always played sports as a child and currently I am an assistant instructor at my martial arts center I have been attending since I was 16 years old.
I am really looking forward to seeing my own progress in the IT Network Specialist program at MATC, this is my first step to a future in technology. As long as I try my best no matter what, positive outcomes will happen, I have no need for the negative. Balancing school, work, health and fun will be a great challenge and I plan to succeed and absorb all the knowledge I can in the process.
